Promoting gender equality and women empowerment

Turkmenistan is working on the development of the next multi-sectoral National Action Plan on Gender Equality in Turkmenistan.

In anticipation of the development of the Plan, an assessment of the current plan has been initiated to identify mechanisms and factors contributing to success, as well as gaps and areas for further improvement of action to ensure equal rights and opportunities for all women and men, girls and boys.

(1)  Intensify our efforts for the full, effective and accelerated implementation and funding of the ICPD Programme of Action, Key Actions for the Further Implementation of the Programme of Action of the ICPD, the outcomes of its reviews, and Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.

Addressing gender-based violence

ACHEST under the National and Partner Commitments (Page 8 of the Conference Programme) makes the following commitments as part of supporting national efforts and contributing to the completion of the unfinished business of ICPD.

Advocate for favorable policies to close the gender gap through accelerated country partnerships with development partners, government and civil society organizations.

Intensify and accelerate programme of action for services for the youth through active engagements with various youth platforms at country level.

Increasing access of adolescents to comprehensive reproductive health education

Turkmenistan strives to expand access for adolescents and youth to comprehensive and age-appropriate information, education and adolescent-friendly comprehensive, quality and timely services. In particular:

Achieving zero preventable maternal deaths

Turkmenistan strives to achieve universal access to sexual and reproductive health as a part of universal health coverage (UHC), by striving to achieve zero preventable maternal deaths.
