Samrerng Yanggratoke
Vice Minister of Health Ministry of Health, Thailand

After his medical study 1978, Dr. Samrerng Yanggratoke has been working continuously to uphold the public health system in Thailand. He started his medical career at a community hospital in a rural province of Thailand.  During 1978 – 1987, in early years of the family planning program in Thailand, Dr. Yanggratoke was other the frontier rural medical doctors and health personnel who actively advocated for and provided family planning services to the people following a nationwide campaign promoting contraception use for birth spacing or limiting to help reduce poverty.  He promoted condom use and vasectomy since that time to ensure that family planning is the duty for men and women to decide the method of choice by themselves. 

In 2019, Dr. Yanggratoke becomes Vice Minister for Public Health while still being Chair of Health Volunteer Foundation and advisor of Handicap Foundation in Nakhon Ratchasima province. In September, 2019, he represented Thailand as a panelist during the UN High-Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage suggesting how everyone in Thailand, especially those from vulnerable populations, is able to access necessary health care without facing financial difficulty.  Dr. Yanggratoke receives a number of awards including outstanding Award for Rural Doctor from Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital in 1984 and Fellow Award from University of New England, Australia (Public Health Development) in 2008.
