Dr. E. Osagie Ehanire serves as the Honourable Minister of Health for Nigeria. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Minister of State Health. Educated in Munich, Germany, he returned to Nigeria in 1982 to work at the Department of Surgery at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital. After which he joined the Shell Development Company Hospital Warri. Dr. Ehanire has served at various times as a prominent member of the Boards of Edo State Health Management Board and T.Y Danjuma Foundation among others. Dr. Ehanire has also worked extensively in Germany as resident Anesthesiologist, resident Vascular Surgeon and resident general surgeon in Thoracic Surgery at various hospitals. He is a graduate of Medicine from the University of Munich, and attended the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin where he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Anaesthetics as well as Certificates in General Surgery and Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery and became a fellow of the famous West African College of Surgeons (FWACS).
