Brindaaalakshmi K. is the citiesRISE Youth Leader for Chennai in which she supports youth engagement, advocacy and design of innovative programs to transform mental health and well being for young people in India. Brindaa brings extensive experience in communications and research working at the intersection of identities, human rights, public health and technology. Along with her engagement with different communities as an activist, she is also a peer supporter working with the LGBTIQA+ community in Chennai, India. She is currently authoring the study, "Gendering of Development Data in India: Beyond the Binary for the Centre for Internet & Society, India" as part of the Big Data for Development Network led by five global south organizations and supported by International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada. As part of the citiesRISE platform, Brindaa is actively collaborating with youth leaders in Nairobi, Sacramento, Seattle, and Bogotá as part of citiesRISE's overall effort to network leaders across diverse cultures and contexts to a shared effort to create Mental Health Friendly Cities.
