Giselle Argüello
Census and Survey Area Coordinator National Statistics Office, Costa RicaGiselle Arguello Venegas holds a master's degree in Statistics from the University of Costa Rica, with more than 25 years of working at the National Institute of Statistics and Census, has specialized in the topic of sample design for household surveys, establishment surveys and agricultural surveys. Since 2014, she has been coordinating the Census and Survey Area of INEC, and has under her coordination household surveys that investigate the population's income and poverty level issues, both by poverty line and multidimensional poverty; labour market-related issues published quarterly; the economic activities of micro-enterprises in households; as well as a set of special surveys in coordination with other government institutions on issues such as culture, use of time, disability, and women, children and adolescents.
As coordinator, she is also in charge of the Cartography Unit, the Demographic Statistics Unit that regularly publishes vital statistics of births, deaths, marriages and divorces for the analysis of the country's demographic dynamics; and the Sampling Unit in charge of the construction of the sampling and sample design frameworks of the surveys carried out by INEC and requested by other institutions.
She has been a university professor of the Statistical Techniques and Design of Experiments courses at the International University of the Americas and the Autonomous University of Monterrey of Costa Rica.
