Hon. Hamad Mohamed Rashid has been a politician for the last thirty years who has held different portfolios in the government of United Republic of Tanzania both in Mainland and Zanzibar. Currently he is a Member of Parliament and Minister of Health - Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar. Before being appointed as a Minister of Health, he served as a Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources, Livestock and Fisheries, Zanzibar, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy.
While in Parliament he has led several parliamentary committees such as; Chairperson of Public Accounts Committee; member of Finance Committee; Member of World Economy Form of the World Bank/IMF; Member of United Civil Society for Disaster Risk Reduction; Member of inter Parliamentary Union and Vice President of Standing Committee of Sustainable Development Finance and Trade and Member of Finance and Economic Committee.

His academic background is Social Development Studies from St. Francis Xaviour University, Canada, with a post graduate diploma in Management from London college of Management Studies.
Apart from Politics Hon Rashid has been a banker having served at Peoples’ Bank of Zanzibar as a branch manager.

He has certificates in leadership courses from several institutions including Pyongyang University DRPK (South Korea), World Bank Institute /IMF Function and World Bank Institute, WDC, (U.S.A) and Norway.
