Paulo Saad
Director Population Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the CaribbeanMr. Paulo Saad holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin; a Master degree in Demography from El Colegio de Mexico, and a Bachelor degree in Statistics from the University of São Paulo in Brazil.
Since October 2016, he has served as Chief of the Latin American and Caribbean Demographic Centre (CELADE) - Population Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). Previously, he served for six years as Chief of the Population and Development Area of this same Division.
Before joining ECLAC in October 2007, he worked for eight years in the Population Division of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DAES) in New York.
Throughout his almost 40 years of professional career, he has worked on various topics related to population and development, particularly the social and economic impacts of population dynamics and population aging.
