Laura Londén
Deputy Executive Director (Management) United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)Ms. Londén is a humanitarian and development executive in United Nations refugee, humanitarian, emergency and peace operations, with proven leadership over organizational transformation, management and programme portfolios in support of organizational mandates.
She brings to UNFPA progressive inter-agency experience at both headquarters and field duty stations with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the United Nations Office of Human Resources Management (OHRM), the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Ms. Londén has served the United Nations system since 1990, working in Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Jordan, Palestine, Sierra Leone, Switzerland, Timor-Leste and the United States of America.
She holds a Master’s degree in Political Sciences (Public Law and Administration) from the University of Åbo Akademi in Finland.
She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Political Sciences by Åbo Akademi in May 2018 ‘in recognition of her efforts for the benefit of refugees and her passion to make a difference for a better world’.
