Jovenes Alentando Vida Youth NetworkI began to engage in social participation as a teenager in FRANSIDA, a civil society organization that developed youth projects together with adolescents and young people affected by HIV.
In 2015, I joined ASEPO, the “HIV-positive Support Association – ASEPO”, which is the leading social institution in the response to HIV from a human rights and solidarity perspective. I coordinated several youth actions while also actively participating with the technical team of the "AIDS, Sexuality and Human Rights Line", a free and confidential telephone information, support and orientation service on HIV, implemented in alliance with the Montevideo Council.
Also in 2015 I participated in the Workshop on Political Advocacy for Young Leaders organized by the LAC Network of Young Positives in Bogota, Colombia. This experience of participation and regional exchange prompted me to create, with the joint support of UNFPA and ASEPO, the network Jóvenes alentando a la vida - JAV (Young People Encouraging life), focused on the promotion and defense of the rights of adolescents and young people affected by HIV.
Our JAV network also focuses on the central issue of the promotion of young people´s sexual and reproductive rights, seeking to articulate with different youth organizations through the "Gozarte" network.
I was one of the JAV co-leaders in the organization of the "Diverse Youth Camp" in Montevideo supported by UNFPA and then I was selected to participate in the Youth Now! Regional Camp and the Regional Meeting preparatory to the Nairobi Summit, both events in Puebla, Mexico (2019).
My passion for communicating with other people led me to study journalism, to work for several years at Radio El Espectador in Uruguay, aside from other working experiences I have in other radios and digital media.
