Debora Denise
Deputy Director of the Rights and Justice Unit International Planned Parenthood Federation/Western Hemisphere RegionDebora is Deputy Director of the Rights and Justice Unit for the International Planned Parenthood Federation/Western Hemisphere Region.
She co-founded and served as Executive Director of Anis—Institute of Bioethics, a feminist organization based in Brazil. An anthropologist by training, Debora’s research spans several issues including reproductive and sexual rights. Debora has extensive experience arguing cases on issues including abortion and marriage equality before Brazil’s supreme court. Debora’s has produced eight films that have received more than 50 awards. Debora is a visiting scholar at Brown University’s Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and the author of Zika: From Brazilian Backlands to Global Threat. She contributes regularly to El País and Marie Claire, Brazil.
