Jane Ongoglo
Head of Division for Social Welfare, Vulnerable Group & Drug Control African UnionDr Jane Marie Ong’olo (PhD) is a social development specialist with substantial cross-functional skills in representation and liaison, advocacy, strategic management and organizational development. This includes technical leadership and support to governments, regional bodies and civil society organisations in a wide variety of themes and sectors such as health and development with regards to drug demand reduction and harm reduction; social protection, vulnerable groups and key populations; transnational organised crime, in particular drugs and human trafficking, governance and rights issues.
She currently heads the Division for Social Welfare, Vulnerable Groups and Drug Control at the African Union Commission. Her work includes coordinating policy action with African Union member states in the development and implementation of social development policies and programmes. Dr Ong’olo previously worked for the Government of Kenya, the British Council, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
