Kamila Tuyakbayeva started her volunteering at the age of 15, when she joined UNFPA’s Y-PEER network. She then becameY-PEER's National Focal point in charge in 2012 and served as a communicative bridge between UNFPA, Y-PEER volunteers and Y-PEER international that includes 50+ countries around the globe (** this is optional as I don't know who the readers are going to be).
 

In 2011-2012 she was part of the team that expanded Y-PEER to the outside of South Kazakhstan, the initial birthplace of the network. In the 12+ years of her volunteerism she has trained 3000+ adolescents and youths on issues related to reproductive health and rights, gender equality, resource mobilization, transparency, NGO capacity building, prevention of STIs, HIV/AIDS and prevention of stigma and discrimination. Kamila has also partaken in the organization of and ensured funding for multiple national and international projects, including Summer Leadership Schools that have been recognized as the most successful social project in Kazakhstan by the World Bank and Soros Foundation Kazakhstan.

After co-founding a youth-led NGO named “Dostar” in South Kazakhstan, Kamila decided to devote herself to Public Health. She received her Bachelor’s diploma from the University of Arizona, where she studied through "Bolashak" presidential scholarship. She is now working on her Master’s in Public Administration and serves as Deputy Head to the Center of Health Promotion at the National Center of Public Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
