Remmy Shawwa, Regional Office for Southern Africa
UNESCORemmy Shawa has over eight years of experience working in adolescent SRH and gender in the eastern and southern Africa region. Working for UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa since 2017, Remmy supports 21 countries in the region to pursue positive education, health and gender outcomes for adolescents and young people, whilst also representing UNESCO on the regional AIDS Team for Eastern and Southern Africa. Remmy is also a certified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, a public health practitioner, and has training in Psychological First Aid. Currently, he is pursuing a multi-disciplinary doctoral degree in public health and international law at University of Cape Town and Maastricht University. As a member of the Public Health Association of South Africa, Zambia Counselling Council, and Psychology Association of Zambia, Remmy is particularly passionate about public (and mental) health. In 2014, he founded @PsycHealthZambia, a private institution that offers non-drug therapies for better mental health
