Lorence Kabasele, Computer Science Data at ISIPA
President of AfriYAN for Eastern and Southern Africa

Lorence Kabasele Birungi is a dynamic and ambitious young person from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). She is currently the President of the African Youth and Adolescents Network (AfriYAN) for Eastern and Southern Africa, a key platform for advocacy on sexual and reproductive health and rights and population and development on the continent. She is also the focal person for SheDecides DRC. As the President of the Youth Advisory Panel for the UNFPA country office in the DRC, Lorence advises UNFPA by providing a youth lens to view its programmes and projects as well as initiating projects that put young people first. In addition, she was nominated by UNFPA to be part of the High-Level Commission on the Nairobi Summit on ICPD25 Follow-up to support the acceleration of the implementation of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development by providing guidance and political support to advocate for meaningful follow up to the commitments outlined in the Nairobi Statement on ICPD25. Lorence has knowledge and experience in community mobilization, outreach and advocacy and an understanding of current development issues, notably the Sustainable Development Goals focusing on areas of sexual and reproductive health for adolescents and young people. She graduated in computer science data at ISIPA (Higher Institute of Computer Science, Programming and Analysis) in Kinshasa.
