Latanya Mapp Frett is President and CEO of the Global Fund for Women, which has fuelled gender justice movements across the world for over 30 years, putting resources directly in the hands of courageous activists who are working to end oppressive policies and change entrenched norms. As a feminist fund, Global Fund for Women offers flexible support to a diverse group of partners – more than 5,000 groups across 175 countries so far – to create meaningful change that will last beyond our lifetimes.
Previously, Ms. Frett was the Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Global, the international arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Ms. Frett worked for eight years as a human rights officer for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and for 10 years with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). She participated in the Nairobi Summit on ICPD25 as a speaker in 2019 and has been involved in many other international and UN forums, including serving as a delegate to the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995. Ms. Frett currently serves on the Board of Directors at Oxfam America and CHANGE, and is an Adjunct Professor of Population and Family Health at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. She holds a bachelor of arts in government and politics, a master’s in public policy, and a juris doctor degree from the University of Maryland.
