Angélica Lozano Correa is a lawyer and civic activist elected Senator of Colombia in 2018 by the Green Alliance party. She was Representative for Bogotá from 2014 to 2018, Council member of Bogotá from 2010 to 2013 and Local Mayor of Chapinero from 2005 to 2008 and has served as Coordinator of the round-table on Gender and International Cooperation in Colombia as a Consultant to the United Nations as well as a university volunteer from Opción Colombia. She has advocated for various human rights issues, with an emphasis on promoting women’s political participation and sexual and reproductive rights.
Since her arrival in Congress, her legislative priority has been to focus on leading bills that respond to environmental needs, transparency, equality and decent work in the country. She also leads on fundamental political processes and is recognized as an opinion leader. Her role has been crucial in giving life and continuity to the fight against corruption and advancement of gender equality in Colombia.
