FutureLife-Now! Empowered adolescents making responsible and informed decisions and choices

Commitment description:

We commit to contributing to Chapter VII, Reproductive Rights and Reproductive Health (Section E Adolescents) of the ICPD Programme of Action through the SADC FutureLife-Now! programme by:
Ensuring education sector policies across the SADC region's 16 Member States include access by learners to adolescent-friendly HIV and SRHR services and support and that these policies are harmonised with health sector school health policies by 2022;
Improving delivery of scientifically accurate and age-appropriate Comprehensive Sexuality Education in five SADC Member States by 2022 through pre- and in-service teacher training;
Increasing access to youth friendly SRHR services and support for 20 000 school-going adolescents by facilitating formal linkages between 40 schools and partner health providers in four SADC Member States by 2022;
Advocating for the scale up tested models of school - health provider partnerships across 16 Member States by 2030, through regional sharing meetings, exchange visits, dissemination of good practices and reporting at annual minister of education meetings.

(4) Access for all adolescents and youth, especially girls, to comprehensive and age-responsive information, education and adolescent-friendly comprehensive, quality and timely services to be able to make free and informed decisions and choices about their sexuality and reproductive lives, to adequately protect themselves from unintended pregnancies, all forms of sexual and  gender-based violence and harmful practices, sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS, to facilitate a safe transition into adulthood.
