CHILD MARRIAGE AND TEENAGE PREGNANCY PREVENTION PROGRAM
Commitment description:Community and School outreaches will be held with a major focus of creating awareness and sensitizing community members on the dangers of child marriage and engaging them in participatory processes to have them commit and act towards ending the practice in their communities.
The school outreaches will focus on creating awareness, engaging teachers in ensuring that schools are free of especially sexual violence and abuse to their students, and empowering students to be able to have the desire to not get pregnant, or make one pregnant (For the sake of boys). Emphasis will be put on empowering the youngsters to develop negotiation skills, improve academic performance, develop talent, impulse control and discipline through lifetime individual games, positive decision making and other life skills, and Sexual and Reproductive Health Education.
Key stakeholders will be identified and involved in all stages of program cycle.
Mode of engagement:
- Programmatic actionCreate awareness of the dangers of child marriage in five villages and 15 schools, and empower 2250 teenagers (50 in each School) by taking them through an above the waist program towards ending teenage pregnancy by 2023
(5) (a) Zero sexual and gender-based violence and harmful practices, including zero child, early and forced marriage, as well as zero female genital mutilation; and (b) Elimination of all forms of discrimination against all women and girls, in order to realize all individuals’ full socio-economic potential.
