stepping up political advocacy efforts related to violence against women and young girls.
Commitment description:With regard to tackling gender-based violence and harmful practices, such as child marriage, early and forced marriages, and female genital mutilations, in addition to our organization’s activities in the field, we are committed to advocating for the Government to implement national policies aimed at addressing these social scourges. We will produce flyers and leaflets including the following statements: zero gender-based violence, zero child marriage, zero early and forced marriage, and zero female genital mutilations, which we will publish through all information channels in order to enable all individuals, as agents of change in society, to fulfil their potential, both socially and economically. WANET intends to use the free number of the Women's Watch and Warning Room (number is already operational) to provide an opportunity for women and girl victims to break the silence surrounding violence suffered on a daily basis, such as gender-based violence, child marriages, early and forced marriages, and female genital mutilation. Anonymity will be guaranteed for those wishing to use this number without revealing their identify. Through its actions, WANET must: - encourage communities to break the culture of silence preserved through the complicity of women themselves in their attitudes of passive acceptance and the culture of silence through male domination; - Carry out community awareness campaigns and deliver educational talks; - give rise to the breaking of silence among victims through the free Women’s Watch and Warning Room number; - identify and welcome victims through the free watch room number; - set up a counselling and medical support unit to provide first aid to victims; - create a task force to provide psychological support to victims.
