Recognition, justice and development for women of African descent
Commitment description:Prioritize actions in favour of women of African descent with the aim of ensuring that their rights, cultural identity, participation and access to justice are recognized, in order to advance the fulfilment of our rights in the framework of the Decade for People of African Descent for the implementation of positive measures to reverse or change the inequalities they face due to structural racism, with an intersectional and intergenerational approach. That policies and actions include the creation and operation of a fund to provide women of African descent with access to economic resources; the promotion of production companies; and the implementation of wider-reaching economic projects, accompanied by technical and business assistance policies. Creation of a permanent forum for Afrodescendants within the ECOSOC structure. Improve coverage and access to health for all women of African descent, through comprehensive and high-quality services, and ensure that health plans incorporate ethnicity, race and gender requirements with respect for and the incorporation of practices and knowledge of traditional African medicine into the national health system, and that it is available to all those who request it. Urge states to produce statistics broken down by ethnicity and race, as a tool to assess the situation of people – particularly women – of African descent.
