DECLARATION OF COMMITMENT OF THE GABONESE GOVERNMENT

The Nairobi Summit is an ideal opportunity for us to reaffirm Gabon's willingness to accelerate the pledges set out 25 years ago, with a view to achieving the objectives of the 2030 Agenda. I - Universal access to sexual and reproductive health as part of universal health coverage to achieve the goal of zero unmet need for family planning. This calls for the revision of policies and laws promoting access to sexual and reproductive health services for adolescents, and also an increase in the number of service delivery points providing at least three family planning methods by 2030; Tackle maternal mortality by extending the maternal health policy. II - Draw on demographic diversity to drive economic growth and achieve sustainable development Promote the participation of young people with a view to achieving sustainable development, including through restructuring the National Youth Council; Support the creativity and innovative nature of young people by expanding incubation programmes. III - Eradicate gender-based violence and harmful practices Revise legislation with a view to eliminating discrimination found in legislative texts, such as the Civil Code, the Penal Code and the Labour Code; Organize awareness-raising campaigns on an ongoing basis to ensure a return to fundamental family values and to respect for the integrity of others. IV - Uphold the right to sexual and reproductive health care, even in humanitarian and fragile contexts Roll out Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in the education system by training educational coaches and revising initial and ongoing training curricula. Build the capacity of social workers in schools
