Youth Commitments from Ghana: SRHR in humanitarian and fragile context:
Commitment description:Young people will therefore
1. Commit to volunteering in humanitarian situations, and form networks of coalitions to advocate for SRHR in humanitarian settings
2. Through groups and one-on-one conversations, engage in resource mobilization from government, stakeholders, CSOs, and from both local and international organizations to support SRH in humanitarian and fragile contexts
3. Use social media to share their experiences and best practices on SRHR delivery in humanitarian settings, and also as a platform for advocacy
4. Build their own capacities in acquiring skills for handling SRH issues in humanitarian settings, through volunteering and personal learning
5. On climate change, live by example and take ownership of the environment, and also advocate for cleaner, safer and sustainable living conditions
6. Advocate for the SRH rights of persons living with disabilities in humanitarian and fragile settings
Mode of engagement:
- Programmatic actionWe acknowledge that humanitarian and fragile contexts exist in Ghana in the form of internally displaced persons, the incidence of natural disasters, refugees from neighboring countries living in settlement camps and urban centers around the country.
(12) Ensuring that the basic humanitarian needs and rights of affected populations, especially that of girls and women, are addressed as critical components of responses to humanitarian and environmental crises, as well as fragile and post-crisis reconstruction contexts, through the provision of access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health information, education and services, including access to safe abortion services to the full extent of the law, and post-abortion care, to significantly reduce maternal mortality and morbidity, sexual and gender-based violence and unplanned pregnancies under these conditions.
