Tamara Kreinin
Director of the Population and Reproductive Health program at PackardTamara Kreinin joined the Packard Foundation in 2012 as director of the Population and Reproductive Health program. Prior to joining the Foundation, Tamara served as the executive director of women and population at the United Nations Foundation where she designed and implemented initiatives to improve life for women and girls globally, with an emphasis on reproductive health, comprehensive programs for adolescent girls, U.S. policy on behalf of women and girls globally, global south advocacy, and partnerships with UN agencies.
Tamara’s experience in health and human services spans more than 25 years. She has traveled the globe as an advocate and public policy advisor for sexual and reproductive health and rights. Tamara previously served as a consultant for nonprofitand philanthropic organizations, including the position of interim executive director of the New York Regional Association ofGrantmakers, whose members grant $4 billion annually. In this role, Tamara led work to support the rebuilding of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast post-Katrina.
Tamara was previously the president and CEO of SIECUS, the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States, where she was a leader in the national dialogue on sexual health and rights. Prior to SIECUS, Tamara served as the director of state and local affairs at the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy in Washington, D.C. There, she developed and implemented a comprehensive strategic plan for states and local communities to reduce teenage pregnancy.
Tamara is the co-author ofGirls’ Night Out,a book about women’s groups across America, published in 2002 by Crown, Random House. Tamara holds a Master in Health Services Administration (M.H.S.A.) from the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan
