Prem Chandra Chaudhary is a young and dynamic officer of the Indian Administrative Services (of 2010 batch). Mr. Chaudhary has demonstrated his mettle in urban and rural development, having worked in challenging regions of eastern India. He started his carrier as a Sub-Divisional Magistrate and then moved on to become the Collector & District Magistrate of a district with 4 million population in Odisha, an Indian State.
During his 4 and 1/2 years’ tenure as the District Magistrate, one of his main focus was on addressing vulnerabilities of girls and women by improving access to education and economic advancement through women self-help groups. His focused attention and action resulted in improving the adverse child sex ratio of the district.
He was later appointed as the Director Special Projects, responsible for many national flagship rural development programmes of India. Currently, he is the Commissioner of Bhubaneswar City, Vice Chairperson of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority and also the CEO of the Smart City limited. His thrust is on transforming the city into an ideal global destination with high quality infrastructure and better quality of life through inclusive, sustainable and planned development. Mr. Chaudhary specializes in disaster management and was part of the team that effectively handled the very severe category cyclones in 2013 and 2019, that received global recognition.
