Civil Society Accelerating Universal Access to SRHR in the SADC region

Commitment description:

Our Commitments
1.Between 2020 and 2030, to take forward the ICPD+25 commitment to inclusive societies by ensuring that our political leaders do not leave out marginalised populations such as LGBTI people, gender self -identifying people, adolescent girls and young women, sex workers, and people who use drugs, and that the long-agreed ICPD language of, ”without discrimination of any kind” becomes a reality in our region
2.Between 2020 and 2030, to advocating for the centrality of HIV to SRHR in Southern Africa
3.To hold political and social leaders accountable for the delivery of universal access to SRHR across the region
4.To supporting a revolution in Africa’s relationship with adolescents and young people, by measurably increasing the meaningful participation of young people in SRHR and health systems; by working for, supporting, monitoring and reporting on young people having universal access to science-based comprehensive sexuality education, to SRHR information, and to SRHR-related counselling.
,5.We will work to remove all legal and policy barriers to adolescents having free, universal, and continuing access to SRHR services without third party consent of any kind, in line with long-standing ICPD agreements
6.To promote gender equity and will continue to monitor gender equality (SDG 5) in our region, and commit to producing biennial reports
7.Support and promote inclusion of structural interventions and monitoring in SRHR plans
8.To collectively take up the long-term work of changing social norms that drive political leadership or lack of leadership that is harmful to SRHR
9.To work with the African Union Commission and the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights to deepen understanding that SRHR are African rights
10.To collective action to accelerate the delivery of SRHR against the delivery of SRHR against the SADC SRHR strategy
