For Me With Me
Commitment description:It is our belief that solutions for girls should always include girls. For me with me is a 3 year initiative aimed at helping young girls aged 10 to 17 understand their right and use their voices to change society. Our strategy centers around building the capacities of girls to take active part in solving challenges, creating a conducive environment that supports their development and providing supportive platforms for them to use their power.
Our Training, Awareness and Project based learning (TAP) approach will achieve the following:
- Train girls so they can work with organizations and contribute actively to decision making on girl issues. We are taking the lead by setting up a Girl Advisory Board at the organisation.
- Work with local organizations and agencies so they can do better at putting girls at the center of their work.
- Provide platforms for girls so they can talk about issues they want, share information and have their opinions heard.
- Support girls in using their voice to demand for change from their leaders and to hold them accountable.
Our target is to leverage on media and technology tools to support girls, institutions and associations to reach 1,000,000 girls by 2022.
Mode of engagement:
- Programmatic actionWe are leveraging on the Training, Awareness and Project based learning approach (TAP) to improve the health and productivity highly disadvantaged girls in Nigeria.
Address gender-based violence and the harmful practices of child, early and forced marriages and female genital mutilation(5) (a) Zero sexual and gender-based violence and harmful practices, including zero child, early and forced marriage, as well as zero female genital mutilation; and (b) Elimination of all forms of discrimination against all women and girls, in order to realize all individuals’ full socio-economic potential.
