Changing the narrative around mental health
Commitment description:citiesRISE is committed to working towards removing the stigma around mental health and making it a global right that is available to all irrespective of age, gender, sexuality, disability, race, caste, religion or economic status. We will achieve this through active engagement with youth leaders in our network of cities. We are committed to transforming the state of mental health policy and practice for young people globally and we envision a world in which communities support young people to develop resilience, make healthy choices, and lead productive lives by mainstreaming mental health across sectors. We plan to reach 1 billion young people with services and information by 2030 to turn the tide on depression, addiction and suicide through evidence-based interventions and community experience.
Modes of engagement:
- Policy and guidanceOur methodology involves gathering and convening key stakeholders, crafting situation analyses, developing theories of change, delivering programs, and aggregating feedback that lead to systems and policy change.
- Programmatic actionOn the ground mental health interventions in five cities globally: Bogota, Chennai, Nairobi, Sacramento, Seattle
(11) Committing to the notion that nothing about young people’s health and well-being can be discussed and decided upon without their meaningful involvement and participation (“nothing about us, without us”).
