TOGO DECLARATION AT NAIROBI SUMMIT ON THE ICPD PLAN OF ACTION

Commitment description:

Togo remains resolutely committed to working for the further fulfillment of Cairo's promises, namely "Zero preventable maternal deaths, Zero unmet needs for family planning and zero gender-based violence". To do this, Togo sets itself the objectives by 2030 to:

a) Increase significantly and to the extent of its potential, the annual budget intended for the acquisition of family planning inputs for the improvement of the supply of services to populations, and especially the most vulnerable populations.

b) Continue to improve access to quality inclusive education and decent employment for young people, with the empowerment of women and gender equity being the fundamental basis for harnessing the demographic dividend for development,

c) Continue to invest in the education of adolescents and young people, in the creation of jobs as well as in the strengthening of sexual and reproductive health and

d) Take appropriate measures to prevent child marriage and early.

Modes of engagement:
  • Budgetary and financial
    Increase and to the extent of its potential, the annual budget intended for the acquisition of family planning inputs for the improvement of the supply of services to populations, and especially the most vulnerable populations.

    Value: USD 900,000.00 per year for the acquisition of contraceptives

(3) Zero preventable maternal deaths and maternal morbidities, such as obstetric fistulas, by, inter alia, integrating a comprehensive package of sexual and reproductive health interventions, including access to safe abortion to the full extent of the law, measures for preventing and avoiding unsafe abortions, and for the provision of post-abortion care, into national UHC strategies, policies and programmes, and to protect and ensure all individuals’ right to bodily integrity, autonomy and reproductive rights, and to provide access to essential services in support of these rights.
