Strengthened communication and partnerships for advancement of the ICPD agenda in the national development in the context of sustainable development goals
Commitment description:8. The government of the Republic of South Sudan commits to putting in place a progressive legal and policy framework for addressing the barriers to provision of SRHR and GBV prevention and response services by:
a) Enacting, by mid-2020, the Nursing and midwifery regulation laws that will ensure improved quality of maternal health care
b) Enacting/reviewing, particularly, the GBV law by mid-2020 and Family Law and the Children Act by 2022
c) Fully operationalizing the specialized court (by 2021) to try GBV cases
d) Passing the South Sudan Youth Development Policy, and ratifying the Africa Youth Charter, by mid-2020.
e) Finalizing (by end of 2019) and implementing Sexual Reproductive Health policies (Reproductive Health Policy and Strategic Plan, Task Shifting Policy and Standard Operating Procedures) that promote increased accessibility of SRH services including to people with disabilities and males.

(3) Zero preventable maternal deaths and maternal morbidities, such as obstetric fistulas, by, inter alia, integrating a comprehensive package of sexual and reproductive health interventions, including access to safe abortion to the full extent of the law, measures for preventing and avoiding unsafe abortions, and for the provision of post-abortion care, into national UHC strategies, policies and programmes, and to protect and ensure all individuals’ right to bodily integrity, autonomy and reproductive rights, and to provide access to essential services in support of these rights.
