Strengthen China's National Commitment to realize ICPD unfinished agenda and SDGs

Over the past 25 years, the Chinese government has implemented the ICPD Program of Action in a positive and responsible manner.

We have integrated the implementation of the Program of Action's goal of "eradicating poverty" with our poverty alleviation strategy. And in the past four decades, China has brought 850 million people out of poverty, which accounts for over 70% of the global poverty reduction.

We have adhered to the people-centered approach by including quality services and the right of informed choice into laws, regulations and strategic plans. We provide safe and age-appropriate reproductive and family planning services. And the contraceptive prevalence rate stays at about 80% among married women of childbearing age.

We have attached great importance to both advancing social development and empowering women. Women's rights have been effectively ensured in all sectors including political, economic, cultural and social settings.

We will continue to honor our commitments to ICPD by effectively integrating the implementation of the Program of Action with achieving the Sustainable Development Goals on the 2030 Agenda. And we will push for integrating the related goals in the medium- and long-term development plans of the country. The country will continue to implement the healthy China strategy by promoting long-term population development in a balanced manner. These efforts are expected to contribute to the sustainable and coordinated development of population, economy, society, natural resources and the environment.

For next step, we will promote the Belt and Road initiative, strengthen South-South and North-South cooperation, and deepen our cooperation with international organizations such as the UNFPA and PPD. Together we will build a community with a shared future for mankind by contributing to the unfinished goals of the Program of Action and the 2030 agenda for sustainable development.

  we will push for integrating the related goals in the medium- and long-term development plans. The country will continue to implement the healthy China strategy by promoting long-term population development in a balanced manner.
• Programmatic action
  we will promote the Belt and Road initiative, strengthen South-South and North-South cooperation, and deepen our cooperation with international organizations such as the UNFPA and PPD.
