Self-Care Trailblazer Group (SCTG) commitment to fully implement the ICPD Programme of Action and meet the SDGs by 2030
Commitment description:Universal access to SRHR is a critical part of UHC. By 2030, the SCTG will ignite and build a comprehensive, evidence-based self-care agenda and movement for SRHR. Healthcare is being transformed by the development of technologies and evidence that strengthen consumers' power to take greater control and autonomy. This transformation is particularly impactful in the field of SRHR. This commitment will harness this momentum and support and amplify countries’ uptake of the WHO’s Guideline for Self-Care in SRHR. We will achieve this by:
Mobilizing people and communities:
•2.5 million people mobilized globally to both take and demand self-care action for SRHR
•1,000 high-level champions cultivated to advance self-care policies, programs and evidence in at least 10 countries
Mobilizing people and health systems:
•100 new multi-sectoral partnerships forged to expand self-care practices
•Supporting global and national market actors to increase equitable access to quality self-care interventions for tens of millions of people
•Supporting 10 countries to develop holistic policies that address access, and affordability of quality self-care.
These users, champions, and partnerships will activate change at individual and community levels to create an enabling environment for self-care.
The SCTG group will focus on:
1.Growing a strong evidence base for a broad spectrum of self-care interventions, products, and behaviors to unlock policy/implementation changes at the global and country level
2.Catalyzing demand for self-care, including the importance of agency, autonomy, and enhanced health literacy to enable informed, responsible healthcare decisions
3.Strengthening the supply of quality, equitable, accountable self-care products and services, working with all forms of providers to increase evidence-based quality self-care at scale
4. Strengthening the enabling environment to ensure that policy and regulation support evidence-based quality self-care at scale.
