Reaching new contraceptive users in humanitarian and fragile contexts
Commitment description:Save the Children will uphold the right to universal sexual and reproductive health care in humanitarian and fragile contexts by reaching 1,000,000 new contraceptive users in these settings by 2030 – 30% of whom are adolescents and youth (10-24 years) – targeting the most vulnerable and marginalised. Recognizing the gender dynamics in access to contraceptives, and the specific risks of gender-based violence including child marriage in humanitarian and fragile contexts and the need for sexual and reproductive health care for survivors, we commit to conducting a gender analysis in all large scale humanitarian responses. We will also continue to advocate for Universal Health Coverage and the realisation of the right to health for all, including sexual and reproductive health and rights, and to address barriers to access faced by women and girls.
Mode of engagement:
- Programmatic actionSave the Children has worked to institutionalize family planning services into our large scale humanitarian responses. We commit to partnering with government and other stakeholders to deliver high quality family planning services.
