Intensifying our efforts for the full implementation of ICPD Programme of Action
Commitment description:• Ireland believes that if Universal Health Coverage is to be genuinely universal, it should embrace all health services. As we collectively agreed in the Sustainable Development Goals this includes access to Sexual and Reproductive Health. This should to be of good quality, available, accessible and acceptable to all women and girls throughout their lives, free of stigma, discrimination, coercion and violence. The Irish Government’s new international development policy, A Better World, prioritises gender and equality and commits to a number of new initiatives in this area.
• The Government of Ireland is committed to putting women’s voice at the centre of efforts to improve women’s health. The Department of Health has established a new Women's Health Taskforce to improve women’s health outcomes and experiences of healthcare. The first action of this Taskforce will be to lead a ‘radical listening’ exercise that will invite women in Ireland to share their experiences of and solutions for the health system. This data combined with the available evidence will form the basis for future policy and action to improve women’s health in Ireland.
