Integration of Multi-sectoral Response to prevent and address Gender-based violence in EECA region

Commitment description:

The Eastern European Institute for Reproductive Health is committed to invest into meaningful partnership with UNFPA EECA RO for full integration of the concept of multi-sectoral coordinated approach to prevent and respond gender based violence in EECA Region. EEIRH joint with the UNFPA EECA RO will provide technical assistance to national partners in Eastern Europe and Central Asia through policy dialogue, adaptation of tools and global standards, capacity development of national gender machinery and inter-ministerial teams, and facilitating South-South Cooperation through knowledge sharing between Romania and EECA countries. Following the SDGs pledge “Leave no one behind”, the programme will merge the multi-sectoral response to GBV and the specific measures to address the rights of women with disabilities – GBV survivors, migrant and refugee women. As a result it is expected that the multi-sectoral coordinated response to GBV is institutionalized in all 17 countries of EECA Region in line with UN Standards and Human Rights Treaty Bodies obligations, eventually leading to full governmental ownership and related policy actions.

  • Change or creation of legislation
    Adaptation or adoption of new legal and/or regulatory documents to support or strengthen the multi-sectoral coordinated response to GBV.
  • Policy and guidance
    Contribution to development process of national strategies for prevention and respobse to GBV. Development or adaption to country context and needs of the Standard Operating Procedures for key sectirs.
  • Programmatic action
    Support for programmes development and implementation, development of technical and functional capacities for decision makers, stakeholders, and key sectors professionals.
