RE: Female Health Company Pledge ICPD 2019

To whom this may concern,

The Female Health Company (“FHC”) manufactures, markets and sells the FC2 female condom. FC2 is the only female-initiated product, approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as well as approved by the World Health Organization (WHO), that provides dual protection against unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (“STIs”), including HIV/AIDS.

In order to contribute to Zero unmet need for family planning information and services, and universal availability of quality, affordable and safe modern contraceptives, as well as provide total protection from STIs such as HIV and HPV for both adolescents as well as adults we would like to make the following pledge towards the ICPD 2019:

"Based on the procurement quantity of the purchasing country/or donor, the Female Health Company pledges to provide accompanying programming support free of charge, in the form of master training sessions; IEC materials; and demonstration models to ensure sustainable FC2 female condom programs in that particular country. Taking away the financial burden from governments and donors to invest in programming, and ensuring maximum uptake of the FC2 female condom."

The introduction of the FC2 female condom in a country needs significant additional support in demand creation, in the form of education, training, and materials, in order to create sustainable programs in country and ensure uptake and use of the commodity. Female Health Company recognizes this need and as a social enterprise, pledges to enter into a public private partnership with those purchasing/receiving countries of the FC2 female condom and take the responsibility for accompanying technical support based on the procurement number.
