Every woman and girl must be free to decide without being forced to continue a pregnancy as a result of laws that criminalize abortion
Commitment description:The Centro de Promoción y Defensa de los Derechos Sexuales y Reproductivos (PROMSEX), together with the International Campaign for Women's Right to Safe Abortion, commits to campaigning for the following, with the goal of achieving zero preventable maternal deaths by 2030: • Decriminalization of abortion. • Universal access to safe abortion in all countries. • Availability of safe abortion at the request of women and/or girls Recognizing that safe abortion is necessary to achieve gender equality and the right of women and girls to life and health. By 2030, at PROMSEX, and together with the Latin American Consortium against Unsafe Abortion and other pro-rights networks in the region, we will advocate for the decriminalization of abortion, promoting the expansion of the grounds permitted and for the eradication of the total ban on abortion in the Latin America and Caribbean region; We will urge 10 countries to register mifepristone as an essential medicine for obstetric use, and 15 countries to have protocols for the care of girls under 15 years of age with unintended pregnancies, ensuring universal, high-quality access that is free of stigma.

(3) Zero preventable maternal deaths and maternal morbidities, such as obstetric fistulas, by, inter alia, integrating a comprehensive package of sexual and reproductive health interventions, including access to safe abortion to the full extent of the law, measures for preventing and avoiding unsafe abortions, and for the provision of post-abortion care, into national UHC strategies, policies and programmes, and to protect and ensure all individuals’ right to bodily integrity, autonomy and reproductive rights, and to provide access to essential services in support of these rights.
