Ending unmet need for family planning
Commitment description:Unmet need for family planning is a big problem in many developing countries and it is a reproductive health issue as well as reproductive right issue. Unless we minimize or even end unmet need for family plannig we cannot reach many of the SDGs. The most effective way to be successful beside awarenes raising activities among communities to create additional human power by task shifting approach; to provide FP services in mainly rural areas also providing the SRH/FP as an integral part of Primary Health services at the first health care level. In order to end unmet need for FP, young people should be considered. They need correct information /kowledge on SRH including family planning; If they need clinical fertility regulating services it should be available for them.Young people need special services, the do not use the SRH service which is provided or adults therefore SRH /FP services should be designed to meet their demand. In Türkiye we have developed "a youth friendly SRH services" and were able to demonstrate the effectivenes of such model. However sustainability of the service need strong political committment. In my intervention I would like to talk about our "best practices" from Türkiye on these two topics and the problem we encountered, and discuss the possible solutions to overcom.
Mode of engagement:
- Programmatic actionGender based violence is prevalent in many countries including Türkiye. We should deal with the underlying causes like gender discrimination, powerty etc.. if we really want to reach "a Zero target". By reaching the families.
(5) (a) Zero sexual and gender-based violence and harmful practices, including zero child, early and forced marriage, as well as zero female genital mutilation; and (b) Elimination of all forms of discrimination against all women and girls, in order to realize all individuals’ full socio-economic potential.
