Commitments from Bangladeshi Youth: Road to Nairobi
This commitment is prepared based on the National Level Youth Consultation that was conducted in support of ICPD25. Over 40 young people across Bangladesh, from diverse backgrounds, participated in this consultation. During this consultation Bangladeshi youth committed to the points detailed in this note. This consultation was a joint ofBandhu Social Welfare Society, Right here Right Now Bangladesh Platform and UNFPA Bangladesh.
Bangladeshi youth, from different sections and backgrounds, in collaboration with the Right here Right Now Platform of Bangladesh, – committed to the following ICPD25 points:
1. We commit to involve and engage in the implementation of the ICPD Programme of Action.
2. We commit to raise awareness on gender-based violence and discrimination.
3. We commit to report and document incidents of violence and will have zero tolerance to gender based violence, sexual harassment and child marriage.
4. We commit to involve parents in raising awareness on CSE, child marriage, violence, SRHR information and services and sexual harassment.
5. We commit to mobilize local youth in getting support for ICPD issues, in line with the Agenda 2030, including SDGs.
6. We commit to build our capacity on issues around SRHR in the ICPD PoA.
Modes of engagement:
- Policy and guidanceThe platform with the strength from it's 11 member will keep engaging young people to build their capacity on the existing laws and policies in order to raise awareness so that the young people are able to fulfill their commitments.
- Programmatic actionRight Here Right Now Bangladesh Platform will enhance young people's capacity and address issues of ICPD PoA so that young people are able to fulfill their commitment that they have made during the consultation.
(12) Ensuring that the basic humanitarian needs and rights of affected populations, especially that of girls and women, are addressed as critical components of responses to humanitarian and environmental crises, as well as fragile and post-crisis reconstruction contexts, through the provision of access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health information, education and services, including access to safe abortion services to the full extent of the law, and post-abortion care, to significantly reduce maternal mortality and morbidity, sexual and gender-based violence and unplanned pregnancies under these conditions.
