Building Child Marriage Free Communities

The Her Choice alliance commits to zero harmful practices, including child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM). The 27 partner organizations of the Her Choice alliance in 10 countries in Africa and Asia commit to:

i) empower 200.000 girls by providing the opportunity to build their knowledge and skills to exercise their right to choose if, when, and whom to marry;
ii) mobilize 3000 communities to raise awareness of the harmful consequences of child marriage and FGM, change the attitudes and reduce acceptance among those who make the decision to marry girls as children;
iii) work with men and boys to raise awareness of the benefits of a community which values and supports girls and women to fulfil their potential;
iv) provide safe quality schooling including comprehensive sexuality education and accessible, youth-friendly health services to remove the economic and structural drivers of child marriage for the most vulnerable girls.
