Awareness on mitigating, preventing and promoting safe practices in relation to Gender among communities across South Sudan
Commitment description:The commitment aims to reduce the suffering of women, men, girls, and boys experiencing various forms of GBV
This will also include strengthening preparedness and risk mitigation measures by strengthening and working with relevant institution on advocacy and awareness creation
The organization will promote and ensure equitable access to all GBV responses, mitigation, and intervention irrespective of social and culturally discrimination in coordination with the various sectors and with a focus on GBV prevention, risks mitigation, mainstreaming and referral to facilitate the GBV responses in the area
More focus will also be on reducing and eradicating forced/child marriages across various communities by creating awareness on its dangers, creating of opportunities for girl child and supporting initiatives that promote prosperity of women and girls
Modes of engagement:
- Change or creation of legislationThe Rescue Mission will focus on empowering local leaders, stakeholders andgovernment institutions with skills and ways of addressing issues of GBV, forced/child marriage. This shall also include advocacy to ensure leaders championing the cause.
- Programmatic actionWe commit to carry activities to create awareness through empowering communities to know the negative impacts of GBV and forced/ child marriage and how to prevent, mitigate and end such practices. We shall engage the grassroots
(5) (a) Zero sexual and gender-based violence and harmful practices, including zero child, early and forced marriage, as well as zero female genital mutilation; and (b) Elimination of all forms of discrimination against all women and girls, in order to realize all individuals’ full socio-economic potential.
