ACCESS TO COMPREHENSIVE SEXUALITY EDUCATION

Commitment description:

Urge the Ministry of Education and the competent bodies of the Plurinational State of Bolivia until the 2022 administration to approve public policies with the allocation of sufficient technical and financial resources for the implementation of permanent programmes for secular comprehensive sexuality education at all levels of the regular and alternative education systems in urban and rural areas, from early childhood, respecting the progressive autonomy of children and adolescents by updating school curricula, training teachers and involving the entire school community, with approaches based on interculturality, depatriarchalization and human rights, with the aim of preventing unintended child and adolescent pregnancies; informed decision-making; respect for sexual orientations, gender identities and sexual characteristics; access to the latest contraceptive methods; the implementation of differentiated sexual health services; the prevention of clandestine and unsafe abortions; and the fight against sexual violence, stereotypes, prejudice and the various forms of discrimination and violence.

(4) Access for all adolescents and youth, especially girls, to comprehensive and age-responsive information, education and adolescent-friendly comprehensive, quality and timely services to be able to make free and informed decisions and choices about their sexuality and reproductive lives, to adequately protect themselves from unintended pregnancies, all forms of sexual and  gender-based violence and harmful practices, sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS, to facilitate a safe transition into adulthood.
