1. Unmet needs in family planning (FP) within adolescents/young people
Commitment description:The Government of Cabo Verde, as demonstrate in the Strategic Plan of the Sustainable Development 2017-2021, is committed on the Preventable Maternal Death Reduction and to contribute to the achievement of the sustainable goals in the area of maternal health, at national, regional and local level (39/100.000 in 2017 to 9/100.000 live births in 2021), as well as reducing infant mortality (15/1000 in 2017 to 13/1000 live births in 2021) by ensuring essential health care. The MoH will continue working in this crucial agenda and to advance dialogues, strategies and liaisons on a common approach to improve Sexual and Reproductive Rights and a commitment to End Preventable Maternal Death, by improving the institutionalization efforts on the maternal and child health coordination and integration, and promoting South-South cooperation to set the ground for concrete actions of cooperation regarding ICPD Reference Center for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.
(3) Zero preventable maternal deaths and maternal morbidities, such as obstetric fistulas, by, inter alia, integrating a comprehensive package of sexual and reproductive health interventions, including access to safe abortion to the full extent of the law, measures for preventing and avoiding unsafe abortions, and for the provision of post-abortion care, into national UHC strategies, policies and programmes, and to protect and ensure all individuals’ right to bodily integrity, autonomy and reproductive rights, and to provide access to essential services in support of these rights.
