Improved efficiency and quality of programme planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting
Commitment description:2. The government of the Republic of South Sudan commits to the overall goal of zero preventable maternal deaths by 2030, and will take the following actions:
a) In partnership with Development Partners, Faith Based Organizations and Civil Society Organizations, train (in compliance with international standards) and deploy more 3,906 midwives to fill the gap, to ensure every woman is attended to by skilled personnel by 2030.
b) Establish, by 2021, an effective mechanism for Maternal and Peri-natal Death Surveillance and Response at all the National, State and County hospitals.

Achieve universal access to sexual and reproductive health as a part of universal health coverage (UHC)(3) Zero preventable maternal deaths and maternal morbidities, such as obstetric fistulas, by, inter alia, integrating a comprehensive package of sexual and reproductive health interventions, including access to safe abortion to the full extent of the law, measures for preventing and avoiding unsafe abortions, and for the provision of post-abortion care, into national UHC strategies, policies and programmes, and to protect and ensure all individuals’ right to bodily integrity, autonomy and reproductive rights, and to provide access to essential services in support of these rights.
